April activities

April is turning out to be an active month in Norfolk with nests being built, young ones being born and flowers emerging. Sunrise is getting earlier so its been time to Start setting the alarm clock.

It has also been wet and windy, balancing the record March temperatures.

Finally, the flowers are starting to emerge and it has been a pleasure to visit some of the Norfolk woodland areas, admiring the blossoms and the spring shoots.

Surlingham

There are some wonderful walks around Surlingham in the Norfolk Broads, especially if you like some peace and quiet and wide open spaces.

There is also plenty of wildlife and birds to see in this area.

Strumpshaw Fen - if you want to be gauranteed to see something special, this is the place to go in the Norfolk Broads. It is well know locally so can get crowded but it never fails to deliver. All respect to the RSPB and the reserve managers.
Today I witnessed a weasal scampering about, chineese water deer, herons, lots of wildfowl around the lakes and singing birds around reception and, to round it all off, saw a kingfisher on one of my photos when I got back.
